As a 2021 Technology Ambassador, what has been your favorite lesson so far? ?

One of my favorite lessons so far was definitely the speaker panel “A Day in the Life of a Broadcast Technologist/Engineer.” Learning about the technologies used in the broadcast industry overall has been so interesting, but I found it incredibly insightful to be able to hear the personal experiences of the diverse group of speakers we had and learn about the different paths they took to end up where they are now, along with the reflection they provided on their careers and the advice they provided with us as we move forward in ours.

As you learn more about the broadcasting industry, what elements of this industry inspire you?

Looking at the industry altogether, the thing the inspires me the most is simply the ability to tell a story. While my answer is quite simple, over the course of this program, we have been learning a lot about what goes into the broadcast industry, what technologies are being used and so on, and while all of these individual lessons have been so educational, they all are used for the larger goal of communicating with an audience and sending a message out. Especially in a constantly modernizing world with sources of information and opinions everywhere, the ability to communicate any topic ethically and foster creativity is what draws me most to the broadcast industry.

The NAB Leadership Foundation works with current and aspiring leaders to build the future of broadcasting. What do you hope for in the future of broadcasting?

Cloud computing, specifically AWS cloud services, is one of the technologies that I was most excited to learn about at the start of this program, and after learning more about it and being able to see how it is growing within the broadcast industry, I’m most curious to see how it evolves in the future of broadcasting. In particular, I’m excited to see how the evolution of cloud services will lay the foundation for other developing technologies to become more common in the industry, such as artificial intelligence.
