Catch up with Media Sales Academy graduate Kameron James (MSA 2017) as she talks about how to reach young audiences, what she attributes her success to and her vision for keeping radio alive for future generations.
How have you used what you learned in the Media Sales Academy over the past couple of years?
I use what I learned in the Media Sales program in my media sales career every day, from creating the VBR to set up meetings with prospects to having that first meeting be a CNA. I also gained everyday sales skills that allow me to stay organized.
What would you say has been the key to your success in this industry?
The key to my success in this industry has been God, my resilience and the people that I work for and with. Your work environment is crucial. I work under an amazing management team that supports us through everything and pushes us to work up to our full potential. Not to mention another key to my success in this industry is staying relevant. As the youngest person on the sales team, I bring fresh millennial ideas to the table.
What is your vision for ensuring that future generations tune in to Radio One stations?
My vision for ensuring that future generations tune in to Radio One stations is to contribute marketing strategies that allow Radio One to stay relevant. It's all about knowing what is going on in the world and staying up to date on the latest trends.
