WASHINGTON, DC -- The National Association of Broadcasters Leadership Foundation (NABLF) today announced JPMorgan Chase as the recipient of the 2023 Corporate Leadership Award. The award will be given during the 2023 Celebration of Service to America Awards, presented by Bonneville International and Hearst Television and held in Washington, D.C., on June 6 at The Anthem.
Each year, the Corporate Leadership Award is given to a leading business outside of the broadcast industry that exemplifies an extraordinary focus on community service and corporate social responsibility. JPMorgan Chase was nominated by Circle City Broadcasting, a Black-owned TV station in Indianapolis, which has worked with the bank on multiple initiatives, recognizing the bank’s efforts to help ensure businesses, communities and employees build sustainable wealth, especially in our Black, Hispanic and Latino communities.

Building on existing investments, JPMorgan Chase made a $30 billion Racial Equity Commitment in 2020 to help close the racial wealth gap. The five-year commitment includes lending and direct funding to help increase sustainable homeownership, expand affordable housing, grow small businesses, support diverse suppliers, improve financial health and build a more diverse and inclusive workforce. The bank has deployed more than $29 billion of that commitment, resulting in creating and preserving more than 100,000 affordable housing and rental housing units, opening 16 Community Center branches and hiring more than 150 Community Managers in underserved communities, helping customers open more than 1.5 million low cost checking accounts with no overdraft fees, creating better access to credit in majority Black, Hispanic and Latino communities, among other impacts.

JPMorgan Chase continues to invest in local communities, as well as in its people through ongoing efforts to support a diverse and inclusive workforce. The bank is giving a second chance to the one in three Americans with criminal backgrounds by supporting their reentry into the workforce, having hired more than 4,600 individuals with criminal records with no bearing on their job. Since co-founding the Veteran Jobs Mission, JPMorgan Chase, along with more than 300 coalition member companies, have collectively hired more than 880,000 veterans across their industries since 2011, and the bank has doubled the number of employees who self-identify as LGBTQ+ around the world.
JPMorgan Chase is also helping to bolster the local small business community. Through the support of Ascend, the bank is focused on generating an ecosystem to connect businesses owned by people of color to capital, new customers and management education. Nationally, Ascend has generated over $2 billion in new contracts for these businesses through the end of 2022.
In addition to the Corporate Leadership Award, local television and radio stations and broadcast groups will be recognized for their exemplary public service and philanthropic efforts during the 2023 Celebration of Service to America awards.
