Sinclair Broadcast Group is committed to helping in the fight against the opioid epidemic by raising awareness and reducing the stigma of addiction while also exploring solutions and holding those responsible accountable. In 2019, Sinclair aired more than 800 drug-related stories, hosted 25 town halls, produced a compelling and thought-provoking documentary and teamed up with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to create a public service announcement. Across more than 70 local newsrooms, these informational and emotional stories showed viewers the varied perspectives of this ongoing issue. From the stories of individuals and their families affected by addiction, to reports of those combating this epidemic, Sinclair’s coverage highlighted the impact of this ongoing national crisis.
